ahhh, here we are again. that magical time when i try to catch you all up on my life.

1- i graduated from college. i suddenly find myself in the big bad scary world and i don't know if i like it or not. i feel kinda in limbo right now, as i don't have a job, but i'm enjoying the break as best i can.

2- upon graduating (last saturday), i promptly contracted a bacterial infection- primarily in my mouth. it. SUCKS! swollen/bleeding gums/tongue, couldn't close my mouth, kiss my boyfriend, or eat anything but applesauce and various types of broth. i'm on antibiotics that have just started kicking in, so now i can close my mouth, i'm not bleeding as much anymore when i brush my teeth, and i can eat mac & cheese! there are still sores on my tounge and lip, and my gums are still rather swollen around my wisdom teeth area, but i am hopeful for a full recovery. apparently these things happen when you're stressed and don't eat right for a few months. who knew?

3- I GOT AN IPOD!!!! its so shiny and digitized... i'm currently working on dumping ALL of my music therein, which is going well. i'm almost through my stash o' tunes and am getting ready to move onto other people's (::cough:: jessica ::cough::) libraries. if you have anything to donate, i would love it!

well that's about it for now, kids. i'm gonna go back to music ripping and dreaming of kisses, crusty bread, and acidic sauces.

"We cannot build a unified country by inciting people to anger, or playing on anyone's fears, or exploiting the issue of immigration for political gain. We must always remember that real lives will be affected by our debates and decisions, and that every human being has dignity and value no matter what their citizenship papers say."
- bush

... right, mr. president. you said it, not me this time- i would just like to point that one out.

........stupid git.

12:15 pm - got this idea from leah
4 years in a flash:

walking across the gravel in front of the theatre and thinking i'd never amount to anything as an actress
prowling founders the night i met amy
breaking up with cory
dating mike
elements. both of them.
being a stage manager for jess wells
kammerud.
rama's room in the village
the suite, and all the drama therein
reading plays out loud for modern drama with meg, jessica, kate, and drew.
mogadishu
the flood.
taking spanish 2... 4 times.
queer as folk
my first apartment
breaking up with mike
a tattoo
red hair
parties. lots of them.
utter failure
getting my shit together
finding drew
a jewelry business
realizing that i am good at this theatre thing- damn good.
a new apartment
a favorite bar
a plan
the first all-nighter of my college career

(scattered in between all of these is a lot of theatre- which is a different cattegory of memories in itself.)

one last day of class.

...now what?

current mood: nostalgic

9:38 am - cute. and most likely accurate.
The Expatriate
Achtung! You are 38% brainwashworthy, 18% antitolerant, and 4% blindly patriotic
Congratulations! You are not susceptible to brainwashing, your values and cares extend beyond the borders of your own country, and your Blind Patriotism does not reach unhealthy levels. If you had been German in the 30s, you would've left the country.

One bad scenario -- as I hypothetically project you back in time -- is that you just wouldn't have cared one way or the other about Nazism. Maybe politics don't interest you enough. But the fact that you took this test means they probably do. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt.

Did you know that many of the smartest Germans departed prior to the beginning of World War II, because they knew some evil shit was brewing? Brain Drain. Many of them were scientists. It is very possible you could have been one of them.

Conclusion: born and raised in Germany in the early 1930's, you would not have been a Nazi.

The Would You Have Been A Nazi? Test
- it rules -

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 46% on brainwashworthy

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 13% on antitolerant

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 1% on patriotic

in that spirit- who wants to move?

in a mere 10 days, 3 hours, and 13 minutes, i shall have been on this earth for 23 years. in celebration of that momentous occasion, i am catching the fever and doing this posting thingie that seems to be going around.
ok, so you're supposed to go to Wikipedia and type in your birth date, and see what pops up. then post 3 from each category. here's what i got:

EVENTS
~753 BC - Romulus founds Rome (we knew this already, so it doesn't count).
~1863 - Bahá'u'lláh declares his mission as "He whom God shall make manifest". Considered the founder of the Bahá'í Faith.
~1918 - World War I: German fighter ace Manfred von Richthofen, known as "The Red Baron," is shot down and killed by Allied fire over Vaux sur Somme in France.
~1966 - Rastafari movement: Haile Selassie of Ethiopia visits Jamaica, an event now celebrated as Grounation Day.

BIRTHS
~1816 - Charlotte Brontë, English author (d. 1855)
~1926 - Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom
~1947 - Iggy Pop, American musician (The Stooges)

and off the record: 1958 - Andie MacDowell, American actress.
god, i hate that woman...

DEATHS
~1910 - Mark Twain, American author and humorist (b. 1835)
~1977 - Gummo Marx, American actor and comedian (b. 1892)
~2003 - Nina Simone, American singer and pianist (b. 1933)

HOLIDAYS (just thought these were cute together- i cheated and put 4)
~Sunni Islam - Mawlid, Prophet Muhammad's birthday (2005)
~Bahá'í Faith - First day of the festival of Ridván
~Grounation Day in Rastafari movement
~United States - Administrative Professionals (i.e. secretaries) Day

2:16 pm - i'm a big kid now!
hey!! i'm on the 5th circle website!! i mean, there is a picture of me! i'm behind jillian, who of course looks stunning. it's not the best pic of me, but i still feel like i've won some kinda goth lottery. WAAHOO!! i'm a PERSON!

in other news:
i made a meatloaf night before last of epic size. i mean this was a mighty loaf de meat. and it was goooooood. it was nice to have a little family dinner: me, drew, and jessica. we had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies... dear sweet christ... i am my mother.

jessica left for USITT this morning, and now the apartment is empty, except for me.
i have the TV on to make noise and a towel on my head 'cause i just got out of the shower. my tub drains properly now!!! it only took a bottle and a half of draino! i did a little celebratory dance when i finished my shower and wasn't standing in a foot of water. does anyone else prefer showering in the afternoon? i hate doing it when i wake up.

anyway, since everyone's in louisville looking at pretty techie stuff and the show is done, i have nothing to do for the rest of the day. suddenly, i have become a lady of leisure. i know not what to do with myself. i think i may go shopping. i have to return the dress that i was going to wear in cindy and jon's wedding. he tried to cheat on her, in doing so got fired (the woman was a customer), and almost got Drew fired in the process. she wondered why i wouldn't be a bridesmaid anymore.
so i have $100 i wasn't expecting to have. i think i shall spend it downtown. downtown would be awesome today. i've really missed warm weather.

anyway, i'm off now. time to enjoy my new found day!

current mood: bouncy
